Road Improvements
In 2017, APMC members agreed to a Road Improvements initiative. After a lengthy consultation, design and approval process, we undertook the first phase of work in the winter of 2019-20. This was in two areas of the road. We remodelled the section from the Highbury Grove entrance down to the first road hump: laid new walkways, moved the north kerb, introduced the 4 rain gardens with associated step-free pedestrian crossing access, and rebuilt the central planter between the gates. The other improvement area was the spur section into Aberdeen Road, where we moved the kerb, widened the pavements and remodelled the area by the entry/exit gate to improve pedestrian and cycling access as well as to introduce new drainage.
Any future phases of road improvements will need to go through a similar process of consultation, design and approval. (And will of course be subject to available funding.) There is currently no overall plan for the design of the road and we do not have any further phases of work in mind.
