Thames Water are undertaking two phases of major works to install new water mains pipes in the area from 24th July until early October 2024 and again from April 2025 for several weeks. We understand the plan is as follows:
Starting on Wednesday 24/07/24, Highbury New Park will be CLOSED at the junction with Highbury Grove. Diversions for traffic (including buses 236 and 393) will be in place. Highbury Grove will remain open but will have temporary traffic lights in place.
Once the work in Highbury New Park is complete, works will move to Highbury Grove between Highbury New Park and Baalbec Road. The road will remain open but temporary traffic lights will be in place and traffic delays are expected. This is likely to happen from mid-August into October.
The second phase of the works is planned to start in April 2025. THIS WILL CLOSE HIGHBURY GROVE COMPLETELY from Baalbec Road, past Aberdeen Park and Highbury Barn, as far as Kelvin Road. This will be EXTREMELY DISRUPTIVE for all traffic entering and leaving Aberdeen Park.
APMC is in contact with Thames Water to discuss how to minimise the disruption. We will update this page with further details when known.
